About Hangman
Hangman is the classic word-guessing game everyone learned in childhood, here in a clean browser version anyone can pick up in seconds. A hidden word, a row of blanks, and a steadily growing stick figure that completes after a fixed number of wrong guesses. Guess the word before the figure finishes and you win the round.
Hangman is older than computers and still gets played for a reason — it is one of the most efficient vocabulary games ever invented. Every successful round teaches you a slightly less common word. Every failed round teaches you which letter patterns you should have guessed earlier. How to win
- Start with the most common English letters: E, A, I, O, T, N, S, R.
- Once you have a vowel pattern, switch to consonants that fit common endings: -ING, -ED, -LY.
- Watch for double letters. A repeated blank pattern usually means a double consonant.
- Do not guess rare letters (J, Q, X, Z) until you really need them.
- When down to one wrong guess left, slow down and read the visible letters out loud.
